THE GOD I WORSHIP IS A LION
and I pray to him for
SPEED
POWER
&
COURAGE!
I pray that I sing
the music of my meat
not that which I eat
but that I am made of
while I pray for the mildness of a dove
and a tapping foot in the earthly venture.
I shall become a lion--beyond censure.
In the meekness of May
I'll sing all the day
in the throne of my flesh
freed of the mesh
and the gins and the traps
that bind me!
THE SYNAPSE BINDS THE MUSIC IN
THE DULL BAR HOLDS IT OUT.
The meter is there, calm as a hair,
in the shiplash of the throat.
There shall be a new image of god!
There shall be a new image of god!
There shall be a new image of god!
The flesh is light and the heart leaps up
The spider dives into the cup
to sail his ship in the wine.
THE UNIVERSE REFLECTS A LION'S
FACE TO ME.
The spider tacks in the sugary sea.
Divine!
Divine!
Divine!
Divine!
Divine!
